After the war, Schindler faced financial ruin, partly due to his excessive spending on bribes to save his Jewish workers. He moved to Argentina, where he struggled to establish successful business ventures. In the 1950s, he returned to Germany where he faced several legal and financial difficulties. Schindler's story gained international recognition and acclaim after the release of Steven Spielberg's film "Schindler's List" in 1993. The film depicted the events surrounding his rescue efforts during the Holocaust and received widespread critical acclaim. It helped to further raise awareness of Schindler's actions and solidified his status as a heroic figure who risked everything to save innocent lives. Oskar Schindler was honored and recognized by multiple countries and organizations for his humanitarian efforts. He was named Righteous Among the Nations by Yad Vashem, the Holocaust memorial institute in Israel. Schindler died in 1974, but his legacy lives on as a symbol of courage and compassion in the face of evil.
