Through this program, the U. S. supplied these countries with billions of dollars worth of war material, including weapons, vehicles, food, and other resources, to support their war efforts. The program played a crucial role in helping the allies withstand their enemies while the U. S. was still officially neutral. Lend-Lease was a significant departure from traditional foreign policy and marked a shift in U. S. attitudes towards global conflicts. Although it was originally intended to be a temporary measure, Lend-Lease lasted until the end of the war and was later replaced by the Marshall Plan.
