The Falcon 9 uses liquid oxygen (LOX) and rocket-grade kerosene (RP-1) as propellants for its nine Merlin engines, which power the first stage of the rocket. After the first stage separates, it can be either land vertically back on Earth or land on a floating platform in the ocean for reuse. The second stage of the Falcon 9, known as the upper stage, is powered by a single Merlin Vacuum engine. Since its debut in 2010, the Falcon 9 has become a reliable workhorse in the space industry, with numerous successful launches and landings. It has achieved several milestones, including being the first commercial rocket to deliver cargo to the International Space Station (ISS) and the first to successfully land its first stage.
