Born in Frankfurt, Germany, in 1929, Anne and her family fled to Amsterdam in 1933 to escape Nazi persecution. In July 1942, they went into hiding in a secret annex behind her father's office, where they lived for over two years with four other people. During this time, Anne kept a diary, which she hoped to publish someday. Tragically, in August 1944, the family was discovered and deported to Nazi concentration camps. Anne died in Bergen-Belsen camp in early 1945 at the age of 15. However, her father, Otto Frank, survived and later published Anne's diary, titled "The Diary of a Young Girl. " The book became immensely popular and provided a deeply personal account of the Holocaust from a teenager's perspective. Today, the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam is a museum dedicated to honoring her memory, educating people about the Holocaust, and promoting human rights. Anne Frank's diary continues to inspire and educate millions of people around the world about the horrors of war and the importance of tolerance and understanding.
